WELCOME TO PEARL RIVER COMMUNITY COLLEGE FORREST COUNTY CENTER LEARNING LAB
FCC Learning Lab Resource Manuals
The Forrest County Center (FCC) Learning Lab offers twenty eight locally networked computers with resources to supplement most courses taught at Pearl River Community College. The Lab also contains ten additional computers with Internet access for research, online course use, and online proctor testing. From College Algebra to Anatomy & Physiology to Developmental English, students utilize the Lab to complete review/skill-building assignments as well as many required assignments. Students may also use a wide array of word processing programs including Microsoft Works, Microsoft Office, and WordPerfect. Two content-area instructors are available to assist students and faculty.
Since the Forrest County Center has many Allied Health programs, there is specialized software available for the student in his or her particular health field. Interactive computer programs allow science students to supplement their studies of specific topics. For instance, Anatomy & Physiology students are able to use software such as A.D.A.M. that reinforces laboratory as well as lecture concepts. The English instructors implement the Learning Lab at all levels. All English students have access to a skill sheet that provides them with a list of grammatical objectives that are taught in their courses: therefore, the students can work on these grammar skills and increase their writing abilities. Computerized review tutorials are available for all literature classes: In addition, the Lab provides tutorials for Traditional Grammar, Professional Development and Speech. Adjunct Reading instructors implement the Lab weekly with their Developmental Reading classes for enrichment, remediation and testing through a variety of software programs that correlate to the reading text.
The FCC Learning Lab provides computerized tutorials and support for all disciplines in order to meet the student needs in academic, technical and career programs. Pearl River Community College does not discriminate due to race, religion, age, national origin, or for any other reason.
